This is one of our clean new generation distilled oils, made from the best woods in Papua back in 2014, some of which are actually sinking grade, the video shows some the actual wood that went into the pot. While we did not sell these new types of oils in the past, because we preferred to sell only aged woods, our method now is making or acquiring only the best complete oils with full scent profiles regardless of being vintage or not. We also make sure that the oils are properly curated and aged before offering them for sale. Now wild woods from Papua are impossible to find of that quality and caliber, most of the wild Papuan woods available now are “leftover materials”.

Scent Profile/ Appearance:
This is a relatively non viscous light honey color, the opening notes are camphor minty, colder, and subutism Papuan resin heated smoke.
As the smell unfolds woods and resin smells starts to appear, becoming more intense as time passes, there is a joyous earthiness that surround the smell from start to finish, not mossy earthy, but woody earthy, in this oil specifically there is none of that damp earthy smells or burnt smoke notes from Papuan oils that have been overcooked. This is a must have for any serious collector of Papuan oils, a benchmark of excellence and opulence.
Closest smells to Papuan oils are those from Brunei and Indonesia, however, there is nothing that matches the beauty of those Papuan soils - the black Kinam magic we call. No wonder why all Royalties preferred oils were either Maroke or Papuan. Longevity of this oil is tremendous, 12+ hours on the skin, evidence of the existence of a huge amount of sesquiterpenes of heavily resinated woods.
The Wood: (video in product page shows wood)
This oil is no exception, you will get an oil that is a result of a fusion of a melange of very high grade incense and sinking grade Papuan woods cooked with extreme professionalism and precision to prevent any off notes.
The Cook:
The cook for this oil is more modern, minimal soak time was observed. We can tell the soak time based on the amount of butyric molecules (cheesiness) there is. Longer soak time definitely increased the yield of the oil but also contributed to extracting more of the “white wood” or boya smell in the oil, it is totally absent in this oil, hence our deduction for the soaking method. Absence of dampness or wet earthy notes, additional evidence of the absence of oversoaking.
Lower temperature was used because of the total absence of any “burn” notes that are a result of the partial burning of the oil when overheated during distillation.
The Cost:
This oil, if distilled today from the same grade of woods would be of astronomical cost, we are simply lucky that these oils were distilled and kept vaulted until now.
Added to that the wonderful effect of ageing since 2014, which anyone with the finer taste in things knows is irreplaceable no matter what you do to a modern oil.
Ageing is not simple about finding a right chemical formula, it is also about how are brains are wired to smell the interactions as they age altogether- the old or ancient effect, we cannot do it to essential oils, and surely cannot do it to agarwood oils.
1. **Soft, Woody Base**: A smooth, mild woodiness forms the core, often described as dry and clean compared to the more intense woody notes of other agarwoods. The woodiness is subtle, with a polished and almost silky texture.
2. **Cooling, Camphoraceous Notes**: A hallmark of Hainan agarwood is its cool, camphor-like quality, which imparts a refreshing, almost minty crispness. This cooling aspect gives the oil a light, airy feel and contrasts beautifully with the deeper elements.
3. **Sweet, Resinous Accents**: While not as sweet as some Southeast Asian agarwoods, Hainan oud offers a mild sweetness, akin to soft amber or dried fruits. The sweetness is gentle, enhancing the overall balance without overpowering the woodiness.
4. **Earthy and Herbal Undertones**: Subtle earthy notes with a hint of herbs or green moss can emerge, providing a natural, grounded layer. These nuances evoke the freshness of a forest, with a quiet, meditative quality.
5. **Subtle Smokiness**: The smokiness in Hainan agarwood oils is usually soft and refined, more akin to the delicate scent of distant incense. It is less prominent than in other agarwoods but adds warmth and depth.
6. **Spicy and Balsamic**: Light touches of spice, such as clove or cinnamon, and balsamic undertones may be present, adding a soft warmth to the composition. These nuances contribute to the oil's depth without being too bold or dominant
